Food at Brighton Nursery

The children at Brighton are actively involved in preparing and learning about good food with our cook Rhona.
Rhona, our cook prepares snacks and home made lunches for the children. A weekly menu is provided and circulated to parents offering a variety of nutritious meals. Children enjoy home-made soup every week and meals include mince and potatoes, fish pie, pasta, rice dishes and stir fries. We use the best local ingredients from our local butcher, fishmonger and grocer. Desserts include home-made yoghurt, rice pudding, fruit, fruit sponge and custard. Snacks in the morning and afternoon include crackers and cheese, sandwiches, toast, fruit, cereal or porridge.
We cater for vegetarians and other special dietary requirements. You may be asked to provide specific food items relevant to your child’s specific needs.
The children often get involved in cooking and baking in our kitchen and we have special counters and facilities which allows them to get hands on.
Parents supply formula milk if required and may be asked to supply food at the early weaning stage.
